Pho is a classic. I described it to David as the Vietnamese equivalent of chicken noodle.
4 cups chicken broth
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 inch ginger root, peeled and minced
1/2 onion, sliced
Boil for 5 minutes.
Rice noodles, cooked and rinsed
green cabbage, thinly sliced
Load up your bowl with rice noodles and vegetables. Top with broth.
I will be playing around with this recipe. I hope to revisit in the near future and blog about it.
Pho is all about the broth. You can make it with beef, chicken, seafood, or just veggies. Flavor it with soy sauce, fish sauce, cinnamon, ginger, garlic, chile, and onions. It is all up to you.
Serve the broth with rice noodles always! Any vegetable you want as long as they are chopped small or thin.
I am a big fan of bars. Baked potato bar. Pasta bar. Salad bar. I am inspired to make a Pho bar. So, David and I have planned on having a Vietnamese Pho bar in the near future to revisit this inspiring meal!
